Less is More - but nearly missed it!

Good afternoon. Oh it is so dull and damp here today - but only outside really as I have been playing around with all things 'Spring' like today and todays share is for the Spring theme challenge at Less is More this week - which I am just about entering on time - where has this week gone????

I have tried another new technique for me for this card - I inked the stamp direct with Aquamarkers and then stamped onto the cardstock that I had printed the sentiment onto using Chrissie's fabulous tutorial.
Now I would have liked to have one this direct to the base card but as my printer doesn't take cardstock more than about 160gsm and I don't think that is strong enough for a base card I have mat and layered it onto a heavier card base but I still think it fits nicely with the Less is More theme.

Thanks for popping over.
Hope you are having a wonderful day.

It's Time for Love at Funky 15th

Good  morning. Today it's my (Deb's)  turn to offer some inspiration for Jules'
Show Us Your Heart
challenge for the Funky 15th
We have had some gorgeous entries so far and you still have plenty of time to get yours in.
Don't forget you do need to use at least
to qualify for the fabulous Funky Hand Prize
and if you don't currently have any Funky Hand products you can find a glorious range of them here
including a fabulous freebie that would be just perfect for this this month's challenge.
So here's what I made:

I am currently going through a bit of a 'Less is More' phase and have kept the focus on the gorgeous papers that I have used from the Craft The Year Away CD - where there is also a huge range of other crafty delights to work with including some gorgeous Digi Stamps like the hearts I have also used.
The Craft the Year Away CD is latest one of 3 CD's in the Papercraft Factory Range and is so easy to use and allows you to be a creative as you want to be - there is a wonderful video demo on the Funky Hand site that explains it all.

I hope you can join us this month - you have until the 14 March so still plenty of time and if you need more inspiration then check out the previous posts to see what the other Funkettes have made and look out for even more to come every couple of days over the next few weeks.
Thanks for popping over.

Spring has Sprung at An Oldie but a Goodie

Good morning. Jack & I are off to Hobbycraft this morning (at Jack's request lol!!!) so I wonder what treats we will return with later???
Thank you to everyone that joined us at An Oldie But a Goodie last time - we had some lovely entries - some non-eligible ones too though so please do check the rules on the sidebar of the main challenge blog - especially this time as Fleur is offering a this gorgeous prize to 1 lucky winner
Oh I wish I could enter myself lol!!!
So the theme for this fortnight is
and this is my DT card

I have used a gorgeous LOTV image - Teddy with Bouquet coloured with PM's in lovely Lilac & Lemon colours that I think scream Springtime.
The DP's are from a really old pad of papers - not quite sure where they came from but the colours are just perfect!
I didn't have the right colour for the flowers so i just coloured white ones with my PM's.
A few brads from stash a touch of Glamour Dust and a sentiment from an old Craft Stamper magazine to finish it off.
Oh and I decided to have a go at a different shaped base card - simply tri-fold a piece of A4 and then fold one of the end panels in half again to create the bottom step:

Challenges I took inspiration from are:

LOTV - Favourite Colours (I adore Lilac & Lemon together)
OSAAT - Anything but Square
Secret Crafter - Fancy Folds
Charisma Cardz - Spring has Sprung
Crafty Sentiments - Lemon & Lilac

Hope you can join us this fortnight.
Thanks for popping over.

Saying it with Flowers at Lexi's Creations

Good morning. Before I share my card with you I would like to thank everyone for the kind words I received reagrding my upset at my son moving out for the first time on Saturday and also report that the move went well . Aaron & Kerry popped in for some lunch yesterday and I managed not to shed any tears when they left so I guess things are looking up already. I will feel even better when I get their old bedroom sorted and furnished again - the emptiness really doesn't help!!
Anyways on to today's share and it is my DT card for the new challenge at Lexi's Creations and this fortnight  we would like to see your projects with
as the theme.
I have used a gorgeous Fairy Dust Crafts image - Roses

I started by creating a background to put the image onto by inking a piece of cardstock with Dusty Concorde Distress Ink and then overstamping with some Fancy Pants Swirls and Diamond images randomly with the same ink. This has then been mat & layered with co-ordinating cardstock and a touch of Glamour Dust added around the edges.
Image has been coloured with PM's.
This also used:
Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch
Wild Orchid Crafts Flowers
Pearl Brad & Adhesive Pearls from stash
Sentiment from Craftwork Cards - inked
Challenges I would like to enter are:
Cupcake Inspirations - Photo Inspiration
Fabulous Friday - No Patterned Paper
Totally Papercrafts - Use a Digi

Thanks for popping over.
Have a wonderful day.

Be Inspired by Nature

Good morning. Well it's a very wet start to the day here in Gloucestershire - both inside and out!! Why inside I hear you cry - no it's not a leak - well only from my eyes as today is both an exciting but very sad day because my middle son Aaron and his girlfriend Kerry are moving out and into their first New Home!! Other than a 6 month period when at 17 years old Aaron thought he would prefer to stay in Leeds when we relocated to Gloucestershire (he later told me it was the worst 6 months of his life) Aaron has always been with me (he will be 26 next) so I am feeling mixed emotions today - excited for him for his first New Home and sad for me as I will miss him desperately.
Anyways as it is Saturday that means it's time for a new challenge at Allsorts and this week the very talented Fleur has asked to be
Inspired by Nature
Some of the DT have been lucky enough to play with some Christine Dark images
(Christine is our GDT for this month)
Here is my take on this week's theme.

I decided to keep my card simple and let the gorgeous image (Valentine Roses)  take centre stage.
One of the best advantages of working with digi images is that you can resize them to whatever size you want and I decided to go large with this one so that it almost fills the card.
The only other embellishment I added are the card candy - and it took almost as long to add them as it did to complete the rest of the card lol!! but I think they just frame the image lovely - what do you think?

Challenges I would like to enter are:

Fabulous Friday - No Patterned Paper
Simply Create - Bold & Bright
Totally Papercrafts - Use a Digi
Creative Craft World - Use a Square

Hope you can find some time to join us this week.
Thanks for popping over.
Have a wonderful day.
I'm off to dry my eyes now and help with the move.

Just One Layer

Good afternoon. Firstly I would like to thank everyone that left me encouraging words yesterday regarding the absence of my Mr Mojo - I really do appreciate your support and kindness - thanks.
Secondly I would like to thank Chrissie and Mandi for inspiring me (and many others) to find a new style that I am totally loving - Less is More through their wonderful new challenge blog.
So the card I have to share with you today is for the current theme at Less is More which is One Layer with either a Flower or a Tree.

To make this card I started by creating a masking template with 4 squares die cut so that I could ink through it with 3 shades of Pink Distress Inks - Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet and Worn Lipstick.
Then I stamped the Hero Arts flower image in various positions within the inked square - keeping the mask in place and finally I took the plunge to go freehand round the inked square with a Fineliner - purposely not making the lines straight for a more 'rustic' feel.
The sentiment is from Papermania and has been stamped direct to the card base.
Now I hope it's ok for a few adhesive gems to be added and still keep to the one layer theme.
A touch of Stickles to highlight the flower centres and that's it done.
I really loved creating this.

I would also like to enter this into the Clean & Simple challenge at Totally Papercrafts this week
Hope you are having a fabulous day.

Hearts & Flowers

Good afternoon peeps. It's been pretty quiet here on my blog this week - apologies for that but Mr. Mojo seems to have gone on holiday - I sure hope he comes back feeling refreshed very soon. So today I have a card to share with you that has taken me all day to make - usually I can make 3 - 4 in a day so I really have struggled with this :-(

I did however find inspiration for my card from the following challenges:
LOTV - Sketch
Cute Card Thursday - Hearts & Flowers
Paper Play Challenge - Hearts & Flowers
Cupcake Crafts -  I Love You
Crafty Pad  - Hearts

This is what I used:
LOTV Cute Squares pre coloured image - Rosie Posy
DP's - Nitwits - Strawberry Social
Burgandy Cardstock
Martha Stewart Doily Border Punch
Pearl Gems from Hobbycraft
Ribbons & heart charm from stash

Thanks for popping over.
Have a fab evening.

Pretty in Pink

Good morning. Well what a damp miserable start to the day it is here in Gloucestershire. John & I had planned our weekend 4 mile walk later so unless it brightens up I guess we will not be doing that - so I wonder what else I could do instead lol!!!
Today I would like to share a card I made yesterday that I really enjoyed making (not that I don't enjoy making all the cards I make but somehow I enjoyed making this one even more!)

I started by inking a piece of cardstock with Spun Sugar & Dusty Concorde Distress Inks and then spritzed with Pearl Glimmer Mist before stamping Penny Black Letter Background 1999L with Dusty Concorde to make the background.
Then I stamped Penny Black Firework 3948K 3 times along a smaller square piece of cardstock and clear embossed before adding some Spun Sugar Distress Ink to the edges.
This also used:
Martha Stewart Doily border punch
Crushed Silk Ribbon
Grosgain Ribbon
Bakers Twine
Button & Heart Gem
Sentiment - Papermania

Challenges that inspired me for this card are:
Penny Black Staurday Challenge - Pretty in Pink
Clean & Simple - Sketch
Secret Crafter - Stamped Flowers
Daring Cardmakers - Recipe (2 ribbon, twine, trim 1 or more buttons, at least 1 heart element) They have a fab prize up for grabs this week from their sponsor The Ribbon Reel

Hope you like it.
Thanks for popping over.
Have a fabulous day.

Getting Sentimental at Allsorts

Good morning. I'm having a lazy start to the day and I typing this whilst still in bed lol!!! Actually the real reason I'm still in bed is because I can't get access to the lounge this morning as we had some of the lounge floor re-varnished yesterday and we have to let it dry - so I'm 'housed' up in my bedroom for now.
We had so many LOVEly entries to my LOVE challenge at Allsorts last week - it was sooooooooooo difficult to pick a Top5 so I went for a Top10 instead - don't foget to pop over and see if 1 of them was you.
This week the lovely Brenda wants us to get
with the theme
Here's my take on it:
I have used a gorgeous verse about Butterflies - from The Crafty Pad - available here
I started with a piece of white cardstock and inked it with Weathered Wood and Spun Sugar Distress Inks then spritzed it with Pearl Glimmer Mist before stamping the sentiment with Black Archival Ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.
I cut a 5.75" square swirl background using my Cricut to create the background and tied some crushed silk ribbon from the Ribbon Girl round the centre and then added the sentiment panel.
A few Martha Stewart punched butterflies were adeded with some adhesive pearls just to finish it off.

Hope you like it.

Thanks for popping over.
Have a fabulous day.
